Special Dinner Event on October 21st with Historian Amity Shlaes

Leading economic historian, best-selling author, and award-winning journalist Amity Shlaes will be speaking on Calvin Coolidge and his legacy at a dinner at The Tulie Café in Tularosa, New Mexico, on Monday, October 21st, 2013 at 6 pm. The event is sponsored by the Greater Tularosa Foundation and the Rio Grande Foundation.

In her riveting recent biography, Amity Shlaes traces Coolidge’s improbable rise from a small town youth to become the nation’s 13th president. During his tenure, Coolidge restored national trust in Washington by battling against government corruption.

Shlaes writes a syndicated column for Forbes, is Chairman of the Board of the Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation and teaches at New York University’s Stern School of Business in the MBA program. She is the author of the New York Times best-sellers, The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression (named by The Wall Street Journal as one of the best books to read during a financial crisis), The Greedy Hand, and her latest book Coolidge, a comprehensive biography and reassessment of President Calvin Coolidge.

Part of the proceeds of the October 21st talk and dinner will benefit The Greater Tularosa Foundation. The GTF was formed to facilitate the creation of a public plaza in Tularosa and to assist in the renovation of historic Granado Street. Tickets to the dinner are $50.
